Measuring Guide for Wide Fit Shoes

Many adults don’t realise they need wide shoes – they might put up with shoes that are too tight or uncomfortable, or might size up in an attempt to get more room for their feet. Poor fitting shoes can lead to disappointment, sore feet and in some cases health issues.

Measuring the girth of the foot is only an indication that your foot is wide. There’s a lot of variation across brands when it comes to finding the correct width in wide fitting shoes. Your foot shape is also important and will determine what style of shoe will be most suitable. Working with a specialist shoe fitter is always recommended to find the best fit for you.

The team here at Wagstaff Shoes specialise in measuring and fitting wider shoes for adults. If you live in the West Yorkshire area, why not pop in to our Meltham store and see us for a free fitting appointment?

If you are not in the local area, but would like some advice, we also offer a free virtual fitting service or alternatively you can give us a call.

VAT exemption is also available on a selection of our wide fit products for customers who have a medical exemption. Click here for more information about how this service works.

Their products feature:

Removable insoles increasing the space in the shoe and providing more room for your feet. Most shoes have either one or two removable insoles. This is especially helpful if you have one foot larger than the other or your feet swell during the day. Removable insoles also allow space for an orthotic device if required, and can be put in one or both shoes as required.

Extended straps with cut off sections so that the wearer can decide on the correct length strap for his/her needs. Please note, once the strap is cut the shoe cannot be returned.

Stretch materials in some products which automatically adjust to the foot shape and can expand if the foot swells during the day.
